CZ P-09 MHS TRIAL PROTOTYPE
For sale is an authentic, factory-documented CZ-UB (Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod) P-09 prototype submitted for the U.S. Army’s Modular Handgun System (MHS) trials – the program that ultimately selected the SIG P320 as the M17/M18.
This pistol is one of the roughly 12–15 pre-production P-09s built specifically for the 2015–2017 XM17 trials. It is NOT a standard production P-09 or P-09 FDE; it has numerous features unique to the MHS submission that were never offered commercially.
Key Prototype/MHS-Specific Features:
True prototype serial number in the “MHS-00XX” range (exact serial provided to serious buyers only)
Early-style slide with front cocking serrations only found on MHS guns
Aggressive “fish-gill” slide serrations at rear (different geometry differs from production)
Extended ambidextrous manual safety levers (larger than any production CZ)
Raised and serrated magazine-release button (unique to trials guns)
Aggressive grip stippling pattern not seen on any production P-09 or P-07
Factory Coyote Tan Cerakote finish applied by CZ-USA for the trials
Internally, it uses the Omega trigger system but with a lighter, crisper trials-spec trigger (measured ~3.9 lb break on my gauge)
Comes with original factory MHS test target dated 2016 and signed by CZ-USA technician
Condition: Excellent – approximately 400–500 documented test rounds by CZ-USA during trials. Light handling marks on frame rails and barrel hood, otherwise 98%+ finish. Bore is mirror bright.

This is likely the nicest documented MHS P-09 prototype currently in private hands. Most of the other known examples are in factory or military reference collections and will never surface.
No law-enforcement or civilian sales of these were ever authorized by CZ, making transferable examples extraordinarily rare.
